SEVEN CURES FOR A LEAN PURSE
The riches of Babylon were the results of the wisdom of its people. They first had to learn how to become wealthy.
First must each of you start wisely to build a fortune of his own. Then you will be competent, and only then to teach these truths to others.
- FIRST CURE – Start thy purse to fattening
- SECOND CURE – Control thy expenditures
- THIRD CURE – Make thy gold multiply
- FOURTH CURE – Guard thy treasures from loss
- FIFTH CURE – Make thy dwelling a profitable investment.
- SIXTH CURE – Insure a future income
- SEVENTH CURE– Increase thy ability to earn
FIRST CURE – Start thy purse to fattening
“TRUTH IS SIMPLE”
For each ten coins you put in, to spend but nine. It is the Law of Gods that who keeps and not spends a certain part of all his earnings, shall gold come more easily.
SECOND CURE – Control thy expenditures
What each of us calls our “necessary expenses” will always grow to equal our income unless we protest on the contrary.
All men are burdened with more desires than they can gratify and confuse not the necessary expenses with your desires.
Just as weeds grow in a field wherever farmer leaves space for their roots, even so freely do desires grow in men whenever there is a possibly of their being gratified.
Study thoughtfully your accustomed habits of living. You can certainly find accepted expenses that may be wisely reduced or eliminated.
Desires that must go unsatisfied – regret them not.
Budget your necessary expenses.
Purpose of Budgeting
The purpose of budget is to help your purse fatten. It is to enable you to realize your most cherished desires by defending them from casual wishes. Budget shows up the leaks from your purse and enables you to stop them and control your expenditures.
So budget your expense that you man have coins to pay for your necessities, to pay for your enjoyment and to gratify the worthwhile desires without spending more than nine-tenths of your earnings.
THIRD CURE – Make thy gold multiply
The earnings it will make shall build our fortunes. A man’s wealth is not in the coins he carries in his purse; it is the income he builds, the golden stream that continually flows.
Gold increases rapidly, when making reasonable earnings.
Put each coin to labor that it may reproduce its kind.
FOURTH CURE – Guard thy treasures from loss
You must first secure small amount and learn to protect them before the Gods entrust you with larger.
Guard your treasure from loss by investing only where your principle is safe, where it may be reclaimed if desired and where you can collect fair rental. Consult with wise men who are experienced in investing.
FIFTH CURE – Make thy dwelling a profitable investment.
Every man should own the roof that sheltereth him and his.
Own your Home
SIXTH CURE – Insure a future income
One should plan certain investments or provisions that may endure safety for many years, yet will be available when the time arrives which you have wisely anticipated.
Provide in advance for the needs of your growing age and the protection of your family.
SEVENTH CURE – Increase thy ability to earn
To increase your earnings your accomplishments must be desire. The desire must be strong and definite. General desires are but weak longings. For a man to wish to be rich is of little purpose. In learning to secure his one definite small desire, he has trained himself to secure a larger one. This is the process by which wealth is accumulated; first in small sums, then in larger ones and as a man learns & becomes more capable.
Always do the affairs of man change and improve because keen-minded men seek greater skill that they many better serve upon whose patronage they depend.
- Pay your debts with all promptness within your power, not purchase what you are unable to pay.
- Take care of your family
- Make a will
- Compassion for less fortunate
- Cultivate your own powers, to study and become wiser and skillful
